Science Advances has published a research article titled Vapor-phase linker exchange of metal-organic frameworks” by JNU Prof. Li Wanbin from the School of Environment, who has led his team to make great progress on porous materials modification and the application and mechanism of carbon capture.
Although greenhouse-gas emission causes global environment issues including climate change, degradation of ecological functions and ocean acidification, coal is still China's main energy source, putting huge pressure on sustainable economic development. Carbon capture technology is considered important in handling problems related to such emissions. But this technology still has many problems, such as poor performance of materials, high cost of capture and high energy consumption. Therefore, the key to obtaining high-performance carbon capture materials is designing the interaction between materials and carbon dioxide molecules.
Li's research was supported by the Key Laboratory of Environmental Pollution and Health of Guangdong Province and funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as JNU's start-up funds for talent introduction and scientific research.
