The research results of Prof. Gao Qingsheng's team in JNU's College of Chemistry and Materials Science have been published in the German journal Angewandte Chemie 's International Edition. The research investigates surface reconfiguration of molybdenum carbide catalyst during the hydrogen evolution reaction by applying Raman spectroscopy combined with electrochemical tests. In addition, it uncovers the real state and action principle of active sites under acidic conditions, providing a theoretical foundation for the further optimization of the surface structure and the improvement of activity and stability.

The first author of the essay is He Liuqing, a postgraduate student of JNU's Department of Chemistry. The research is sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Guangdong Natural Science Foundation and Science and Technology Program of Guangzhou.
