JNU hosted the Frontier Discipline Forum on Food Toxicology and Nutrition Intervention, jointly sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT), from Aug. 4 to 7.

Yang Junlin, director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the NSFC, and Zheng Guanwei, a member of FDCT, introduced the working principles of the fund in their speeches. They expressed their support for exchanges and cooperation between scholars from the mainland and Macao. Through the forum, they said, they hoped to make new breakthroughs in subject issues and cooperation.
JNU Vice President Liu Jiesheng attended the opening ceremony and delivered a welcoming speech. Liu introduced JNU's general situation, educational history and cultivation of students from Hong Kong and Macao; its innovation in the cooperative scientific research system among JNU, Hong Kong and Macao; the construction of the platform; and the development of its food science discipline, serving One Belt, One Road as well as the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

More than 20 experts and scholars from the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao gave reports. More than 60 experts and young scholars had a lively discussion and exchange on relevant scientific issues in the field of food toxicology and nutrition intervention.
 

The forum received project funding from NSFC. Bai Weibin, a researcher in JNU's College of Science and Engineering, was approved to organize the forum, the International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange Project of NSFC, and JNU was granted the right to host it.
