Guangdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunications Corp., Ltd., and VIVO Mobile Telecommunications Corp., Ltd., have jointly donated 1 million yuan to JNU to assist the intellectual property theory and practice research of the Intellectual Property Research Institute and to promote exchange and cooperation among industries, universities and research institutes. The signing and donation ceremony was held in JNU's Alumni Building on April 1.

In attendance were JNU Vice President Rao Min; Zhu Juan, OPPO's legal director; Tian Shuai, VIVO's legal director; and Liang Yan, director of JNU's External Liaison Office and secretary-general of the Education and Development Foundation, as well as members of relevant departments, college leaders, and teacher and student representatives.

Rao expressed her gratitude to the two companies on behalf of JNU. OPPO and VIVO are actively cooperating with JNU in the field of intellectual property theory and practice research, she said. JNU will regard it as a driving force to give full play to its disciplinary advantages and effectively advance a high level of JNU law and intellectual property disciplines.

Zhu and Tian said they were glad to cooperate with JNU Intellectual Property Research Institute, saying their companies know how important intellectual property rights are to enterprises. Not only is this collaboration their first attempt to work with domestic universities in intellectual property rights, but it is also a milestone in their business development. They said they hoped all parties could walk with arm in arm in the near future to support the advancement of enterprise and industry.

After the donation ceremony, Rao awarded Zhu and Tian letters of appointment as practice supervisors and school badges. They later lectured, respectively, on A Talk on Smartphone Intellectual Property and Patent-Related Legal Career Planning.
