The project Evaluation and Application of TCM Pharmacophore Based on Disease Susceptibility, headed by Prof. He Rongrong of the College of Pharmacy's Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Medicine, won first prize in the Guangdong Scientific and Technological Progress Awards. Under the guidance of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory, which posits that illness is caused by emotion, and with disease susceptibility as the breakthrough, the program successfully innovated and established a methodology for pharmacophore evaluation that fits TCM and ultimately broke the bottleneck of identifying the TCM pharmacophore.

The project Single Particle Aerosol Mass Spectrometer, headed by Prof. Zhou Zhen of the Institute of Mass Spectrometer and Atmospheric Environment, won first prize in the Guangdong Scientific and Technological Progress Awards. Focusing on single particle mass spectrometer and the application of PM2.5 source apportionment, researchers developed a high-performance online single particle aerosol mass spectrometer with independent intellectual property rights. They had already made breakthroughs in key technologies, including aerodynamic sample injection, particle concentration and improvement in mass spectrometry resolution and the dynamic range.
The Science and Technology Cooperation Award was established in 2018 after the Natural Science Award, the Technological Invention Award and the Scientific and Technological Progress Award. Prof. Huang Guoquan of JNU's Institute of Internet of Things and Logistics Engineering was one of the five who won the Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
