Almost 1,600 faculty members, alumni and university leaders gathered in the JNU Auditorium on Dec. 28 to celebrate the coming New Year with the 2019 New Year Gala.
With the theme Forge Ahead on JNU's New Journey, the gala, organized by the JNU Trade Union, was divided into three chapters -- spotlighting the university's heritage: JNU spirit; JNU's responsibility as a university for overseas Chinese; and Chinese culture -- presenting JNU people's faith to remain true to their original aspirations, strive for new glory and carry out the spirit of President Xi Jinping's governance in depth.

First prizes went to the joint team of the College of Information Science and Technology/College of Cyber Security and the Information Technology Research Institute; the College of Life Science and Technology; the joint team of the School of Journalism and Communication and the College of Chemistry and Materials Science; the School of Stomatology; and the School of Physical Education.
Best Performance awards went to the joint team of the School of Mechanics and Construction Engineering and the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine; the team of the First Affiliated Hospital of JNU and the School of Nursing; the College of Science and Technology; the School of Medicine; and the International School.

Awards for Best Creation went to the team of the Panyu campus management committee and the JNU-University of Birmingham Joint Institute; the School of Environment; the Institute of Photonics Technology; the Institute for Environmental and Climate Research; the Institute of Nanophotonics; the JNU Library; the team of the School of Foreign Studies and the School of International Studies; the College of Economics; the College of Liberal Arts; and the College of Chinese Language and Culture.
The School of Management, the College of Education and the College of Pharmacy won awards as Most Innovative.
