The First Affiliated Hospital of JNU, also known as the Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Hospital, is one of the first batch of national model clinical teaching and training centers recognized by the Ministry of Education and the National Health Commission. The list consists of 74 hospitals affiliated with higher education institutions, which are also Leading Hospitals of the International Allied Diagnosis and Treatment Center.

The list's establishment by the Ministry of Education and the National Health Commission fulfills the requirement of Opinion of General Office of the State Council of PRC on Deepening Clinical Teaching and Training Coordination to Further Promote the Reform and Development of Medical Education (No. 63 [2017]), promulgated by General Office of the State Council. The State Council's move was intended to conscientiously strengthen the construction of clinical practical training centers of institutions of higher medical education and continuously improve the cultivation of medical talents.
The First Affiliated Hospital of JNU, responsible for the education and standard training of JNU medical students at all levels, has always attached great importance to clinical practical training. Being accepted as a model center represents government recognition of JNU and the hospital's continuous improvement in medical education, motivating them to continue.
