The 2019 national postgraduate entrance examination for master's degrees was held from Dec. 22 to 23. As the examination venue with most examinees in Guangdong for the 11th consecutive year, Jinan University undertook the examination work for 19,437 candidates this year.

JNU candidates increased from over 10,000 in 2015 to more than 23,000 this year. JNU examined 23,478 master's degree candidates from across China this year, an increase of 5,110 for a year-to-year growth rate of 27.8%.
Among all candidates were 9,920 full-time candidates for academic master's degrees, an increase of 890 and 9.8% over last year; 11,055 full-time candidates for professional master's degrees, an increase of 3,598 and 48.2%; and 2,503 part-time candidates for master's degrees, an increase of 622 and 33%. Finance, business administration, journalism and communication, and computer technology have become the most popular majors, with more than 1,000 examinees each. Accounting, law, public administration and English translation have attracted more and more candidates, with over 500 examinees for each major.

This was the first time JNU had adopted facial recognition identification in these entrance examinations.
