The second China Science and Technology Innovation Summit and the awards ceremony of the 2018 Innovative China were held at JNU on Dec. 12. The theme was to lead the new trend of innovative development by promoting positive energy of science and technology. Under the guidance of the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology and JNU, the summit was jointly hosted by JNU's School of Entrepreneurship and the Tech-Way Innovation and Development Research Institute.  

JNU Vice President Liu Jiesheng said the summit, held twice consecutively at JNU, contributes to scientific and technological innovation for both China and Guangdong, as well as exploring a new path for innovation and entrepreneurship research and education with the characteristics of JNU. He said the university would further implement the idea of mass entrepreneurship and innovation to speed the transformation, cultivation and incubation of scientific and technological achievements. It will also set up new research and development institutes in Dongguan, Shaoguan, Huizhou and other cities and encourage more scientific researchers to work in these areas, making JNU a driving force in China's innovation.

More than 500 heads of well-known listed companies, senior managers of leading enterprises, front-line investors, and leaders of industrial parks and secretaries-general of high- and new-technology associations attended the summit. Five keynote speakers and six special guests shared their opinions on the national innovation-driven development strategy and the path of China's scientific and technological innovation in the new era.

Mu Rongping, secretary of the Party Committee of the Chinese Academy of Science's Institutes of Science and Development, delivered a keynote speech on High-Quality and Innovation-Driven Development. Three awards were presented: top 10 outstanding technology workers, top 10 technology innovators and top 10 innovative enterprises
