JNU held its 2018 Chinese talent training classes in cheongsam and tai chi for overseas Chinese cultural associations from Nov. 19 to 30. Fifty overseas Chinese students from 15 countries attended the 12-day program.

At the graduation ceremony, JNU Vice President Rao Min said JNU would give full play to its academic, talent and cultural advantages, spreading Chinese culture and carry it forward. She mentioned that JNU would actively undertake cultural activities, such as Chinese talent training for overseas Chinese cultural associations, to strengthen the sense of belonging and the centripetal force of the Chinese culture. She also said she hoped students could put what they had learned into practice and become practitioners and communicators of traditional Chinese culture.

Through the training, the trainees have gained a better understanding of traditional cultural elements and felt the motherland's meticulous care for overseas Chinese, said Wang Tong, a trainee from the U.K. In the future, Wang said, students will continue to work hard to build cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, sending traditional Chinese culture to the world along the Belt and Road.

This Chinese talent training activity aims to deepen students’ understanding and experience of Chinese traditional culture through archery, short weapons, tea art, paper-cutting and tie-dye.
