The 2018 JNU-Adelphi University exchange program on nursing education was launched on Nov. 1 -- the third visit between JNU and Adelphi since they signed their second exchange protocol in 2016. The opening ceremony was attended by Wang Huadong, vice director of JNU's Faculty of Medical Science; Li Zekai, president of its School of Nursing; Chen Weiju, secretary of the Party branch in the School of Nursing; Yang Qiaohong, vice president of the School of Nursing; Chen Zhuosong, vice secretary of the Party branch in the School of Nursing; and teachers and students. (Secretary Chen chaired the meeting)
Wang introduced the history and characteristics of the Faculty of Medical Science and the School of Nursing, aiming for further cooperation and exchanges between the two universities.
Wishing the exchange program great success, Li shared the latest information on the School of Nursing's faculty, subject establishment, talent cultivation and international exchanges.
In the next two weeks, two visiting teachers from Adelphi delivered academic lectures and exchange ideas with teachers, students and key members of nursing staffs in affiliated hospitals. They had further discussions on issues including Sino-American education and teaching, scientific research in nursing, social services and nurses' career status.
JNU and Adelphi signed their first four-year agreement on exchange and cooperation between the two sides' teachers and students specializing in nursing in November 2010 and conducted their first exchange program in January 2012. In January 2016, they renewed the agreement for four years and continued yearly exchanges and cooperation on nursing education. They also recognized each other's credits on record, further deepening the cooperation and promoting the exchange and development of nursing education and culture between the United States and China.
When Agnese became president of UIW in 1985, he was one of the youngest presidents of four-year universities in the United States. He became president emeritus in 2016. Founded by the American Catholic Church in 1881, UIW is one of the fastest-growing universities in the southwestern United States. Agnese has received a number of professional and civic honors, including the U.S. Lifetime Achievement Award for Education in 2006, and was selected as one of the Five Outstanding Young Americans and one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World in 1989.
Seyedin is also vice president for U.S.-China economic and trade policies of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Asian-Pacific region. . In March 2016, he was nominated by the Norwegian Nobel Committee and subsequently added to the list of 228 global candidates for the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize. He also received the Business for Peace Award in 2017, given by the Business for Peace Foundation in Norway.
