The overseas talents innovation team from JNU's Institute of Nanophotonics has published a research article in an international journal of optical science. The paper, titled Facile Metagrating Holograms with Broadband and Extreme Angle Toleranc was published on Oct. 17 in Light: Science & Application (IF = 13.6), a subjournal of Nature. Prof. Li Xiangping of Institute of Nanophotonics is project leader; associate Prof. Deng Zilan from the same institute is the first author with the assistance of JNU.
Research team did research on nanophoton devices with supersurface and presented a displacement coded super structure grating that provides high-efficient broadband holograms with extreme angle tolerances (near-grazing incidence); it also provided new routes for the application of holographic data encryption, security and panoramic holography. A research hotspot in the field of nano photonics in recent years is Metasurface which can regulate the light field randomly. Journal editors recommended the research that This method can successfully address a few severe issues presented in 'conventional' metasurfaces where the phase gradient was induced by tailoring the structure geometry, dimensions, and orientations; I see this work as a new twist for the field.
The research was funded and supported by the National Natural Science Foundation (project numbers: 11604217, 61522504, 61420106014, 11774145, 11734012, 11574218), the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities (project number: 21617410), the Guangdong Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project (project number: 2016ZT06D081) and the Natural Science Foundation of Shenzhen Innovation Commission (project number: JCYJ20170412153113701).
