Huang Da'nian, a famous geophysicist who gave up favorable conditions abroad to return to China in 2009, was the first national expert in the Recruitment Program of Global Experts in Northeast China. Having devoted his life to teaching, he cultivated a group of talents who have studied abroad but returned to work for China.
He died at age 58 in January 2017. That July, the Ministry of Education began establishing teacher teams in Huang's style at colleges and universities nationwide.
Let’s visit the Accounting Department of JNU's School of Management to see how its teacher team has developed.

The team consists of three national outstanding accounting scholars, Song, Hu Yuming and Shen Hongtao; seven national leading (candidate) talents in accounting; one Cantonese praised as an outstanding teacher in higher education; and one Young Pearl River Scholar from Guangdong. In the School of Management, their assessment scores for teaching performance always rank in the top 10% of all teachers' scores.
Accounting is not only one of the oldest majors at JNU but also its major with the highest enrollment for 10 consecutive years. In accounting circles, there is a saying: JNU leads accounting in Guangdong. The team advocates teaching in accordance with students' aptitudes and introduces the elite talent training program for undergraduate financial excellence. Every year about 40 outstanding students, selected from the sophomores in the accounting department, are selected for specialized training according to their individual needs and interests.

Song said teachers' adherence to the combination of research and social practice is the path that applied disciplines, including accounting, should take. By holding public lectures, serving on editorial boards of academic journals, serving as independent directors of listed companies, undertaking scientific research projects and writing industry analysis reports, JNU teachers have made tremendous contributions to turning scientific research results into productive forces.
