The Ministry of Education awarded a JNU project the featured project award in the fourth Respecting the Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture Event.
The project is titled Appreciating Chinese Culture, Practicing the Belt and Road Initiative: Exploration and Practice of the JNU's Chinese Culture Forum. It is the second time JNU has won this award; the project Chinese Culture Festival project won it in 2015.

This event, hosted by the Ministry of Education and Guangming Daily for the fourth consecutive year, has become an important brand activity of institutions of higher education for the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese culture. This year's theme was Inheritance and Development, Confidence and Responsibility. Through independent entries and recommendations by experts, 10 demonstration projects and 30 featured projects were selected as winning projects finally. Forty institutions win these two awards, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University and Jinan University.

Since JNU' College of Chinese Language and Culture established the Chinese Culture Forum in 2014, over 300 research activities on Chinese culture have been conducted, including 12 courses exceeding 1,000 hours. In addition, more than 30,000 teachers and students from 40 countries and regions have taken relevant courses. With the theme of Reading Chinese Culture and Seeking the Belt and Road, the Forum has held workshops and lectures centering on China's rites, music, poetry and calligraphy, as well as the Belt and Road initiative and culture in South China culture. Its holds such activities as displaying and demonstrating traditional Chinese skills in the ceremony for children before they learn to write, Chinese characters and other activities, Participants may deeply experience Chinese culture and sense Chinese people's attitudes towards culture and values, such as peaceful cooperation, openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning and win-win benefits.
