The opening ceremony of the 61st Chinese Artistic and Cultural Talent Training Class (Festival Culture) for the Overseas Chinese Cultural Community was held at JNU's Shenzhen Tourism College on April 13. It gathered 31 trainees from 21 countries worldwide for two weeks of training.

At the beginning of the opening ceremony, Chen Yingwen, deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, expressed confidence that the trainees would deepen their understanding of China's traditional festivals and Chinese cultural work overseas, increasing their ability to organize festival events. The trainees will contribute not only to promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, but also to enhancing their understanding and recognition of Chinese culture among people in different countries.

JNU Vice President Liu Jiesheng extended a warm welcome to the trainees. Cultivated over thousands of years, Chinese traditional festival culture is a symbol of national culture, embodying the ideological and cultural essence of the Chinese nation and embracing humanistic spirit and ethical ideas. Liu said he hoped each trainee would conscientiously study various celebrations held during different traditional festivals, appreciate festival culture and acquire profound knowledge of it.

Wang Peng, a student representative from Britain, extended sincere gratitude to the organizers, teachers and staff members. On behalf of the whole class, she announced that the students would observe the relevant rules and strive to complete learning tasks during the training. To become efficient envoys promoting Chinese traditional culture, she said, they will spread the knowledge and skills they have learned around the world, so that more people in more countries may appreciate the charm of Chinese traditional culture.
