The opening ceremony of comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement between Jinan University and Sunflare on the Solar Energy Technology Research Institute was held in the International Conference Hall of the Zeng Xianzi science museum on April 11.

Sunflare has donated 10 million yuan to JNU and set up the institute together with JNU's College of Science and Engineering. The two parties will conduct comprehensive cooperation in construction of scientific research platforms, scientific research, project cooperation and personnel training. They will also establish a deep and full range of cooperative relationships in production, research and use.

Attending the opening ceremony were JNU President Song Xianzhong; Vice President Zhang Hong; Gao Liang, a 1984 JNU graduate who is Sunflare's CEO; Wang Zhe, director of the Zhaoqing city High-Tech Industrial Development Zone Administration Commission; JNU school board member Ye Huiquan; and others from government and Sunflare. 

Speaking highly of Gao's spirit of gratitude to JNU, Song thanked him for supporting the development of JNU's engineering subjects and promoting the collaborative innovation of school-enterprise's industry-universities-institutes application mode. Song also said he hoed to explore new systems for developing engineering subjects and build a new focus on new energy materials research.

JNU and Sunflare then signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement.  The two sides will establish a long-term mechanism for collaborative innovation in industry-universities-institutes-application mode. Backed by JNU's advantages in new energy materials research and professional technical personnel training, they will promote the development of new energy materials and reach win-win cooperation.

Gao has been appointed a JNU visiting professor. Song awarded the appointment letter to Gao and wore the school badge for him.

After the signing ceremony, Gao has made a speech titled Technology Creates Energy, showing the process he used to developed his own research in making thin-film solar cells with the research team. He also introducing his current achievements and prospects for applying new energy materials.
