A JNU delegation led by Vice President Liu Jiesheng visited Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia by invitation from Feb.2 to 11 as part of the Belt and Road Initiative and to deepen educational cooperation with members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The delegation had discussions with Sunway University in Malaysia, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, National University of Singapore, the University of Indonesia and the University of Gadjah Mada in Indonesia. It also visited Jit Sin Independent High School in Penang, Malaysia, and JNU alumni associations in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
Liu signed a cooperaction agreement on behalf of JNU with Sunway University. And the delegation planned for exchange programs with Department of Mathematics and Physics at Nanyang Technological University; agreed on setting up a master's-graduate program and a doctoral program in mechanical engineering with the National University of Singapore; and reached agreements on exchange programs with the University of Indonesia and the University of Gadjah Mada.
