The cooperation contract signing ceremony jointly establishing the JNU Science Park in Shunde District of southern Guangdong was held in Shunde on Dec. 25.

During the ceremony, JNU Vice President Song Xianzhong and Cai Wei, the deputy district mayor of Shunde, signed the Cooperation Contract Co-Establishing JNU Science Park (Shunde) by JNU and Shunde Local Government.

Guo Wenhai, the district's party secretary, said, the Science Park was an important step for Shunde in implementing the strategy of opening-up and innovation-driven development and satellite region of higher education mega center. The park is expected to play an essential role in constructing a platform for linking innovative resources of institutions of higher learning with industries in Shunde, Guo said. With the advantage of the park, he said, government service and supporting measures of good quality should be offered to the park’s programs, to gather advantageous resources of talents, education, scientific studies and medical services in Shunde.

JNU President Hu Jun said the cooperation to build the park served as a major initiative to deepen cooperation between universities and districts; to facilitate the partnership of government, industry, universities and research; to promote innovation in scientific and technological systems; and to accelerate the application of scientific research achievements. JNU will make full use of the innovation in systems and mechanisms, pool multi-level talents, and build a first-rate entrepreneurial team to serve the development of local economy.

The park was established in accordance with the principles of mutual benefit and cooperation. The park builds a mechanism of collaborative innovation by government, industry, the university and research. It also gives priority to introducing related industries and projects in such fields as intelligent manufacturing, health, electronic information, and energy saving and environmental protection. In addition, JNU’s biological medicine industrial park, led by Prof. Wu Jianguo, is one of the first projects introduced at Shunde Park.
