Prof. Yin Zhinan of JNU's Institute of Biomedical Transformation, Prof. Zhang Dongmei of the School of Medicine and 18 others received the 14th Guangdong Ding Ying Science and Technology Award on Nov. 30 after being approved by awards' Expert Committee.

Yin, director of the Institute of Biomedical Transformation, was honored by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in September 2007 and has led major scientific research supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology as chief scientist. In March 2008, he was named Chang Jiang Scholar Distinguished Visiting Professor by the Ministry of Education. He was listed as a High-Level Returned Overseas Enterprise Talent in 2010 and elected an Outstanding Midcareer Expert in a new project to cultivate talents in 2013 by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

Zhang, a researcher in JNU’s School of Medicine, has been listed in the New Century Talents of the Ministry of Education, the Zhujiang Scholars in Guangdong Province, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the Pearl River Science and Technology Stars in Guangzhou. Her inventions have received eight Chinese patents, one Japanese and one Australian. She has won two first prizes in the Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Awards and one second prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Awards.
Established in 1989, the Ding Ying Science and Technology Award aims to carry forward the famous scientist Ding Ying’s spirit of devoting himself to science, and to commend midcareer talents who make outstanding contributions to Guangdong' economic, social and technological progress.
