JNU completed the eighth succession of its school board on Nov. 16. Later the board members held their first meeting, during which they listened to and deliberated the work reports of Jinan University and the seventh school board, and a report on the construction of the Panyu campus. They also hosted a forum on JNU’s overall objectives and development, its construction as a Double First-Class and High-Level University, and the construction of the Panyu Campus and the school board.

Eleven distinguished guests attended the meeting: Dai Bingguo, former state councilor and chairman of the seventhth school board; Qiu Yuanping, director of the State Council's Overseas Chinese Affairs Office; Ma Xingrui, governor of Guangdong province and a deputy chairman of the seventh school board; Huang Liuquan, deputy director of the State Council's Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office; Xiu Xiaofeng, deputy director of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region; Yu Guochun, a member of the standing committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, chairman of Yue Hwa Chinese Products Co. and a deputy chairman of the seventh school board; Huo Zhenhuan, deputy of the National People's Congress, CEO of Huo Yingdong Group Corporation and a deputy chairman of the seventh school board; Ma Youheng, president of Macau’s sports and Olympic committee, chairman of Macau Chang Huahang Enterprise Investment Co. Ltd. and a deputy chairman of the seventh school board; Lei Zhengang, secretary of the cultural division of the State Council's Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and a deputy chairman of the seventh school board; JNU President Hu Jun, a deputy chairman and the secretary-general of the seventh school board; and JNU Vice President, Lin Rupeng, JNU Party Committee secretary and deputy secretary-general of the seventh school board.
The audience of more than 100 included all the members of JNU's school board; directors and officials from the State Council’s Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and the Guangdong Provincial Government; JNU leaders Liu Jiesheng, Song Xianzhong, Zhang Ronghua, Ye Wencai, Xia Quan, Hong’an and Zhang Hong; directors of JNU departments; and the chairman and deputy chairman of the Guangdong Jinan University Education Development Foundation.
The school board's mission is to support the education of overseas Chinese and construct a better Jinan University, developing the traditions of patriotism and excellence in education. In various periods of history, it has made indelible contributions to JNU by uniting enthusiasts at home and aboard to provide material and financial support.
