The 10th season of JNU's Winning at Innovation invitational tournament and the 2017 Guangzhou Thero International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for higher education students began on JNU's main campus on Nov. 2. JNU invited other universities to participate in the Guangzhou Thero competition. On this occasion, the university’s Office of Educational Administration signed a cooperation agreement with JNU Scientific and Technological Park that includes jointly developing maker space for overseas Chinese youths and those from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, further extending the improvement platform for maker space.

Competitors came from JNU, South China University of Technology, South China Agricultural University, and South China Normal University. Li Guoliang's team from JNU's School of Environment was awarded first prize in the competition for its project Guangzhou Dibairui Environmental Science and Technology Co. Ltd. Zhu Yuqing's team from JNU's College of Economics and Ni Sheng's team from the School of Animal Science at South China Agricultural University were awarded honorable mentions for their projects, Love Pets Mall and Modern Hog Farm Intelligent Device Development and Application, respectively. Other competitors were awarded third prize.
