Jinan University won seven prizes in the second National Undergraduate Life Science Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Lanzhou University in August. Its National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Bioscience and Technology in the College of Science and Engineering won four first prizes, one second prize and two third prizes, and was also listed as an outstanding organizational unit.

The competition was sponsored by the University Biological Sciences Teaching Steering Committee and the Association of National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers of Higher Education. Since February 2017, the competition has attracted 4,242 students and teachers from 173 universities with 733 projects. At the end of the competition, the innovation group awarded 77 first prizes, 127 second prizes and 284 third prizes. The entrepreneurship group awarded 31 first prizes, 40 second prizes, 78 third prizes and 38 awards to outstanding organizational units.
