A delegation from Universitas Universal (Universal University, or UVERS) in Batam, Indonesia, visited JNU on Oct. 18. UVERS Vice President Lin Qingxiang and Dr. Tang Genji, dean of the College of Language and Culture, met with JNU Vice President Song Xianzhong, along with representatives of JNU's Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and the Division of Liaison.
JNU collaborated with UVERS to hold a training camp on the theme The Belt and the Road: From Guangdong to Southeast Asia for 32 undergraduates from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao who visited Guangzhou and Batam from July 16 to 23. Song thanked UVERS for its hospitality during that visit and expressed appreciation for the persistence of Indonesian Chinese in Chinese language education and the inheritance of Chinese culture. Representatives of JNU and UVERS exchanged ideas about student exchange activities and discussed opportunities for further study at JNU for UVERS students.
Founded in 2012, UVERS is a private institution that focuses on undergraduate education. It has three colleges and 11 majors. Over 95 percent of its more than 400 undergraduates are overseas Chinese.
