In the 2018 Asian university rankings pub listed on Oct. 1t6 by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the international agency on higher education information, JNU ranks 184th, rising by 11 places over last year. JNU ranks 44th in the comprehensive university ranking of Mainland China, rising by 4 over last year.
The QS Asian University Rankings evaluate 10 factors: academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), faculty-student ratio (15%), citations of articles (10%), citations per faculty member (10%), number of doctorate teacher (5%), international teacher ratio (2.5%), proportion of international students (2.5%), proportion of inbound exchange students (2.5%) and proportion of outbound exchange students (2.5%).
JNU has always scored high on the "international students" factor, ranking 12th among Asian universities this year with grade of 99.9. Compared to last year, its ranking for citations has advanced about 100 places. However, there are differences between JNU and top universities on the three most important factors: academic reputation, employer reputation and faculty-student ratio, pointing the direction for JNU's construction as a "Double First" university.
The QS Asian University Rankings were first released in 2009 and are updated yearly. QS Asian University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings and Academic Ranking of World Universities are considered the three most influential university rankings in the world.
