JNU celebrated the Southeast Asian Water Festival on April 7 in front of the north building of the College of Chinese Language and Culture (CCLC). The event attracted more than 1,000 students from Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Guangdong AIB Polytechnic College and JNU. Activities included a craft market, a mask-making competition, a Muay Thai boxing demonstration, a Buddha Bathing ceremony, a water-sprinkling ceremony, a Laotian blessing ceremony and water-pouring carnival.

More than 10 guests attended the festival by invitation, including JNU leaders; Vasin Ruangprateepsaeng, Thai consul general in Guangzhou; and senior managers of the Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank and Thai Airways.

The Southeast Asian Water Festival, held by the Office of Student Affairs and CCLC, is an annual cultural event of Guangdong Province. It has been listed as part of the International Culture Gathering at JNU event series supported by the State Council's Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and awarded third prize for excellent creation of university campus culture by the Guangdong Education Department.
