JNU will  offer four-to-six-year full-tuition scholarships to applicants from Malaysian high schools  who hold the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) and the Malaysia Higher School Certificate (Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia, or STPM), the Malaysian newspaper Sin Chew Daily reports. Qualified students are invited to apply by the May 30 deadline.

Applicants who have failed the UEC and STMP tests but are graduates of Chinese independent high schools may qualify for the scholarships directly after taking the one-year foundation course at JNU. Otherwise, they need to pass the tests after taking the course.

The university will also provide 10 scholarships for overseas Chinese students in Malaysia planning to teach Chinese language and culture.

 There are four types of scholarships for Malaysian students:
(1) UEC/STPM Scholarships
    10 scholarships of 30,000 yuan per year;
    10 scholarships of 20,000 yuan for the first year; 30,000 for the rest.
    Qualifications: Total UEC score ≤ 20; STPM score ≥ 1B; GPA ≥ 3.0.
(2) Overseas Chinese teachers' scholarships
    10 full scholarships (including tuition and accommodation) for undergraduate programs with a 5,000-yuan subsidy per year.
(3) Chinese Government Scholarships
    Apply through the Chinese embassy or consulate in Malaysia through April 2017 as usual.
(4) Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship
    10,000 yuan for the first year

    The JNU undergraduate programs last four to six years, with tuition ranging from 19,000 to 34,000 yuan (12,000 to 20,000 ringgit) per year. The one-year foundation course costs 12,000 yuan (7,500 ringgit). Currently JNU has more than 50 Malaysian students and more than 1,000 Malaysian alumni.
