The "2016 Chinese Culture Tour for Excellent Overseas Chinese Descendants -- Kingwai-JNU Camp" kicked off in JNU's College of Chinese Language and Culture on Dec 12. The camp is hosted by the Chinese Education Foundation, co-organized by Jinan University, and sponsored by Kingwai Land Co. Ltd.

A total of 41 overseas Chinese students from the Business Chinese Center of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and the University of Western Sydney, Australia, received 15 days of training in Chinese language and culture. They learned martial arts, traditional dance, Chinese language and handicrafts, and had exchanges and communication with JNU students from different continents.

At the winter solstice, they learned to make traditional Chinese food such as dumplings and Tangyuan (small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour filled with sesame or bean paste). They also studied traditional Guangdong culture through field trips in Guangzhou, Foshan, Shenzhen and other cities.

Shao Yi, dean of the College of Chinese Language and Culture, gave a welcoming address, briefly introducing the college. He then reported on its work in promoting the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture and influence of the Chinese language. Shao said he hoped all students would gain a better understanding of the college, Jinan University and Guangzhou.

Chen Dan, CEO of the Jing Wai Properties, shared her business experience with young people from all over the world and her story of how to establish a communication bridge between  people in China and abroad. She said she hoped those being present would study hard to contribute to international communication.

After the ceremony, students in the College of Chinese language and Culture performed.
