Hou Yongjian, born in 1958, is the director of Northwest Historical Environment and Economic and Social Development Research Center of Shaanxi Normal University. He is also the director of the Institute of Historical Geography and the editor of China Historical Geography Series. Besides, he is a member of the Academic Committee of Shaanxi Normal University, and a staff of Historical Geography editorial board. He has published many academic monographs like Historical Geography Exploration (China Social Sciences Press) and Chiu Chung: The Yellow River And Chinese Culture(Shaanxi People's Education Press). He is also the history subject conference review expert of National Social Science Fund project.
