Mega-Structure Disaster & Prevention Lab Passes Assessment

*The Mega-Structure Disaster & Prevention National Key Lab of our university has passed assessment conducted by the Science & Technology Department of Ministry of Education recently. *

An expert assessing meeting was held by the Science & Technology Department of Ministry of Education on our university’s program on building of a key laboratory of Mega-structure Disaster and Prevention on July 12.

Upon hearing a report given by Mr. Liu Renhuai on the construction plan of the lab and conducting an inspection on the field, the expert group held the views that in terms of its significance, the lab takes application as its central task and always gears to the need of the country and society in disaster control of mega-structures, which was paralleled to the National middle and long term strategy of Science and Technology Development in public security and the reduction and prevention of disaster; also the construction plan is central to the frontier study of the discipline, and features concrete goals and accurate positioning. Still, the lab has a strong and creative team that is of high academic capability and research capacity in the fields such as dynamic reflection of defect structure, reliability analysis, structural health monitoring, safety alarming of underground structures and infrastructures, suppressing vibration, and intelligent control etc, and all these builds a solid foundation for the cultivation of personnel of high level of proficiency.

The expert group also suggested that the lab build up its advantage by giving full play to its established advantages in engineering and strengthen multi-discipline research and application etc.
