On May 30th, Professor Heri Koskum, president of the Abant Izzet Baysal University visited Jinan University to discuss about the cooperation between the two universities, such as our sending Chinese teachers to Turkey and faculties/students exchange programs.  Mr. Hu Jun, President of our university, and Mr. Song Xianzhong, vice president of our university met with Professor Koskum. Officials from College of Chinese Language & Culture, and International Affairs Office attended the meeting.

Professor Koskum delivered a brief introduction to Abant Izzet Baysal University, and elaborated the background of opening the Chinese language program in the university and their future plan for it. He said that along with the launching of China’s "The Belt and Road” policies, the economic and trade relationship between China and Turkey develops rapidly, and there is a surge of demand for talents good at Chinese. However only small amount of colleges and universities in Turkey offer Chinese language programs, there is large gap between the demand and the supply for Chinese language talents. Also, according to Professor Koskum, there is an urgent need of well-trained, qualified Chinese teachers with Ph.D degree in the Abant Izzet Baysal University in the process of establishing Chinese studies programs. He wanted to take this visit as an opportunity to discuss with our university about the plausibility of sending Chinese teachers to Turkey, and to promote teachers and students exchanges in more fields in the future.

Jun Hu said that we were very pleased to cooperate with the Abant Izzet Baysal University and pressed for the College of Chinese Language & Culture and other relevant units to carry out in-depth discussion on the details of cooperation, so as to ensure that teachers can be dispatched as soon as possible. Mr. Song Xianzhong had a review on his meeting with Professor Koskum at the beginning of this month at the Chinese Embassy in Turkey. He said that along with the launching of The Belt and Road policy, sending Chinese teachers abroad to support the local Chinese education in Turkey was of great significance to the development of Jinan University and Abant Izzet Baysal University; Jinan University will actively coordinate for better cooperation between the two sides.
