The 2015 JNU Study Abroad Fair (SAF) started with a marvelous opening ceremony in south campus. Overseas students from the United States, Italy and India gave wonderful performances and brought the international atmosphere to students and faculties in south campus. Vice President Song Xianzhong attended the ceremony along with executives from multiple offices, departments and colleges. Officials from General Consulate of U.S., U.K., and France were invited as well.
At the opening ceremony, VP Song encouraged JNU students to actively participate overseas exchange programs carried out by JNU which involves over 60 international exchange programs in 2016. He mentioned that students were encouraged to be curious about the world, be ambitious towards international affairs and competition, and be tolerant of diversified cultures. Studying in foreign countries can help broaden students’ horizons and promote competitiveness in the international community.
Mr. Bruni Giacomo, Italian Phd candidate for Theory of Literary and Arts demonstrated his Chinese calligraphy work Heading towards the Distance and Making Your Life Extraordinary, a poem written by famous poet and JNU alumnus Wang Guozhen, to encourage students to be brave and determined to see the world.
Study Abroad Fair officially started after the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Students had deep understandings about various international exchange programs carried out by JNU in 2016 through talking with teachers and senior fellows, reading fliers and project posters. Information session will also be held by program officers from sister universities during the fair, where students can have face-to-face communications with them.
