On April 16th, the first academic committee of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of optical fiber sensing and communication technology was established and the first conference was held in the Institute of Photonics technology. Vice President Ye Wencai, Cai Lin, deputy director of the science and Technology Department, and the first academic committee members attended the conference.

Mr. Ye Wencai expressed the hope that the establishment of the Academic Council would be helpful for the laboratory to maintain cutting-edge vision and get access to more forward-looking guidance to advance the school in the field of research to a higher level, make a contribution to Guangdong Province in the field of Optoelectronic Information Industry. He then announced the founding of the first  academic committee, and conferred letters of appointment to committee members together with Prof. Jiang Desheng, director of the committee.

After the ceremony, the subsequent events, which were chaired by Prof. Jiang Desheng, included work report laboratory, construction program, management system and the 2016 annual open topic arrangements. After discussion, the academic committee members agreed that the lab featured accurate positioning, reasonable target, feasible plan, perfect mechanism. Academic Committee suggested that lab focus more on the integration of basic and cutting-edge research and researches in different directions, introduce high-level personnel and strengthen the research cooperation and achievements transformation.
