Recently, 2016 annual Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation Project Evaluation final results was announced,5 scholars of our university won Guangdong Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young winner, ranking NO.3 among all universities in Guangdong Province with the number of scholars wining the fund. The fund winners are Jianhua Zhu, Jin Yanli, both from Pharmacy School, Guo Ying from School of Environment, Xu Yi from College of Information Science and Technology, and Qu Yibo, from Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Central Nerve system Regeneration Institute .
In 2012, the Guangdong Province Natural Science Fund Committee launched the outstanding youth fund project, to provide financial support to young scholars under 35 years old who have original thinking and creativity in research so as to cultivate talents for the strategic new industries development in Guangdong province. Since the launch of the project, 21 scholars of our university have been given the financial support (up till now, the supports have been given to 54 scholars from Sun Yat-sen University, 31 scholars from South China University of Technology, 7 from Southern Medical University, 5 South China Normal University, and 1 from Shenzhen University)

Ms Jin Yanli, Associate researcher of Pharmacy College, master degree candidates tutor. She received Ph.D degree on medicine at Sun Yat-sen University in 2011. From November 2011 to December 2013, she visited UCLA for two years as a visiting researcher. she was employed by our university in 2014, and has been working as associate researcher in Pharmacy College since then. She was Guangdong Province Outstanding Youth Fund winner in 2016. She is currently engaged in and leading a National Natural Science Foundation project on series of targeted therapy pharmacology on the protein tyrosine kinase and leukemia stem cell regulation and the establishment of new drug target research. She published 18 SCI papers in Cancer Res, Clin Cancer Res, Mol Cancer Ther important professional journal, and she was the the first (first co-author) of ten papers.

Ms Guo Ying, a researcher from Environmental College, doctoral tutor. The fields she is engaged in are chemical pollutants exposure and human health, regional environmental behavior of organic pollutants. In recent years, she publishes more than 30 papers SCI papers, and her papers have been cited by SCI for nearly 800 times. She has led and completed two National Natural Science Foundation projects, three provincial and ministerial level funds projects, and was included in three funds projects. She has received Chinese Academy of Sciences President special award, hundred Excellent Doctoral paper Award.
