The thesis proposal meeting for “Market-oriented Eco-compensation for Key ecological Function Region Research”, a 2015 national social sciences key project was held on March 25th. 
Professor Dong Suocheng, head of the expert group of current project said that the current project was about the market-oriented Eco-compensation for key ecological function region, which was of great importance in theoretical study and in practice.   
Professor Zhangjie, chef expert of the expert group and director of the recourse, environment & Sustainable Development Research Institute delivered a report covering several aspects, including the background of the project, purpose, targets, methodology, technologies involved, framework and sub-projects of the current project etc. He said that the underlying issue to be solved in current project was to design a market-oriented Eco-compensation system (taking water and vegetation cover as the subjects of study), which is a supplement to financial transfer payment system, to realize marketization of Eco-service and compensated use of the natural resources. It can help to encourage the local governments and residents of the ecological functional zones to protect environment and restrict excessive consumption of natural resources, so as to guarantee the sustainable development development of the zone and continuous supply of eco-service.
