Mr. Liu Jiesheng, Vice President of our university chaired the South Campus second and third canteens (yurt) planning expert meetings for twice recently in order to In fully listen to the views and suggestions from all parties of the Yurt canteens reconstruction. On November 18th, the review committee invited 7 experts coming respectively from management committee of School South Campus, Institute of Civil Engineering building professionals, Institute of Architectural Design and Research Institute, South China University of Technology and other units etc.

Mr. Liu Jiesheng shared with the experts the profound sentiment of Jinan people towards the old canteen--- the Yurt and their eager expectation of rebuild it.. Mr. Li Haiyun, director of the Infrastructure Department Director had an introduction to the detailed planning of the South Campus construction and second and third canteen project.

By watching photos and video of the old Yurt, and the detailed planning of South Campus project, experts had a multi-level analysis from the perspective of building design, land planning, art etc. Some experts suggested that the terrain of the proposed canteens, existing buildings around and surrounding environment should be integrated into the project; still, the new yurt should not only be a simple imitation of the old yurt and new techniques should be adopted to display the architectural elements of the original "yurt"; they also suggested that by re-planning and programming contests, more alumni, teachers and students can participate in yurts planning and designs, so that historical memories and building language will perfect combine.

Liu Jiesheng vice president thanked the experts on behalf of the University and in his conclusion he proposed South Campus canteens should not only be harmonious with the surrounding modern buildings, but also a carrier of Jinan culture. He hoped that the new "yurt" to be rebuilt in the South Campus could embody the love of students and alumni towards Jinan University.

On the 25th, Infrastructure Department held another review meeting, inviting old school leadership, old cadres to share their opinions and suggestions on new yurt design and reconstruction.
