Jinan University and University of Birmingham Deepen Cooperation and Develop International Education
On September 10th, a delegation from University of Birmingham, which was led by Professor Richard Williams, Pro-Vice -Chancellor and Head of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, visited Jinan University and was hosted by Vice President Song Xianzhong.
The delegation includes experts in chemistry, mathematics, physics, statistics, structural engineering and computer science, and aims to implement the goals set in a video conference held in July this year to deepen cooperation and develop full-scale educational programs. Vice President Song Xianzhong and Pro-Vice -Chancellor Richard Williams line introduced to each other the faculties of science , hoping this meeting could facilitate substantive cooperation in science between both schools.

Vice President Song Xianzhong also briefed the guests on our new campus construction, demonstrated the design of the new campus, and added that the JNU - UoB International Education Center, which has been incorporated into JNU’s international development plan, will contribute to JNU’s mission to build into a globally renowned research university of distinctive features.
Also present at the meeting included representatives from College of Science and Engineering, College of Science and Engineering, College of Information Science and Technology, College of Economics, College of Life Science and Technology and International Affairs Office.
After the meeting, the delegation went to the related faculties and had face-to-face communication with the leaderships and backbone members. Both sides, under the scheme of International Education Center, conducted in-depth discussions on specific cooperation projects, joint training of masters and doctors, as well as cooperative research etc.
Since the signing of intercollegiate cooperation agreement in 2011, the two sides have carried out substantive cooperation in exchange visits of teachers, students and joint application of scientific research projects. The first cooperation projects of International Commercial Law and MBA programs are on schedule. The visit of the delegation headed by Prof. Williams is the 30th visit from UoB and marks a new phase that the two universities have entered to substantially broaden and deepen cooperation.
