Academic lecture of College of Information Science and Technology / College of Cyber Security(No.23, No.24)

Academic lecture of College of Information Science and Technology / College of Cyber Security(No.23, No.24)

Date:June 8, 2018

Time:10:00 a.m.

Venue:Room 224,Nanhai Building

Topic:On Well-Posedness of Incompressible MHD

Abstract: In this talk, we will first review recent results on the well-posedness of 2D incompressible MHD equations with partial viscosity and fractional diffusions. Then we will focus on a kind of 3D axisymmetric solutions to 3D incompressible MHD equations with only vertical viscosity.

Speaker: Professor Jiu Quan-sen, Capital Normal University

ABOUT JIU QUAN-SEN:
Jiu Quan-sen, doctoral supervisor, professor of School of Mathematical Sciences Capital Normal University. He is engaged in the research of nonlinear partial differential equations and has published more than 40 thesis in Comm. Math. Phys., SIAM J. Math. Anal., Comm. Partial Diff. Eqns. and other international mathematical periodicals. The research contents involve the well-posedness of incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, axisymmetric incompressible Navier-Stokes and regulatory of solutions to MHD equations, axisymmetric incompressible Euler equation with vortex structure. Jiu has obtained foundations from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Beijing Natural Sceince Foundation.

Topic:The lifespan of the solutions to incompressible Euler equations with helical symmetry
Speaker: Prof. Niu Dongjuan, Capital Normal University

Abstract: In this talk, I will present the result about the lifespan of solutions to the incompressible Euler equations with helical symmetry when the helical swirl appears.

ABOUT NIU DONGJUAN:
Graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Niu Dongjuan is now a professor in School of Mathematical Sciences, Capital Normal University. Her research interest is partial differential equation and its application direction, especially focusing on the well-posedness research of partial differential equations in fluid dynamics. Professor Niu has published more than 40 academic papers and has made academic visits to the United States, Canada, Hong Kong and Brazil more than 10 times. Moreover, Prof. Niu has won National Natural Science Foundation of China and Beijing Municipal Natural Science Foundation many times.
