ABOUT Yu Shuhong

Professor Yu Shuhong is a doctoral supervisor in University of Science and Technology of China. He has entered the list of awardees supported by the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars of China in 2003 and become a distinguished professor of the “Cheung Kong Scholars Program” of the Ministry of Education in 2006. Besides, he was selected into the State-level New Century Talents Supporting Program by seven ministries and commissions directly under the state council in 2006 and became a chief scientist of major scientific research projects of China from 2010 to 2014. He is also the academic leader of science fund of the innovation research group of National Natural Science Foundation of China and the leader of the innovation group of key areas of innovative talent promotion plan implemented by Ministry of Science and Technology. Currently, he is a professor of chemistry of University of Science and Technology of China, director of the department of the research of nano materials and chemistry at the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at Microscale and deputy director of scientific center of high-intensity magnetic field of Chinese Academy of Sciences.


He has devoted himself to researches on Bionic synthesis and functionalization of inorganic material and obtained several original results on biomimetic synthesis under polymer monolayer, polymer controlled crystallization, biomimetic materials, controllable synthesis and assembly of   nanostructures and macroscopic-scale assembled nanowire thin films and their functionalities. He published more than 430 SCI papers on Science, Nature Materials, J.Am. Chem. Soc., Rev., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. and Adv. Mater. (citations 32,530, H-index= 98, named as a Highly Cited Researcher by ISI Web of Knowledge). As the first author, he won awards including the 2nd Prize of National Natural Science Award awarded by Chinese Government (2010, 2016), the Roy-Somiya Medal of the International Solvothermal and Hydrothermal Association (2010), Chem Soc Rev Emerging Investigator Lectureship awarded by Editorial Committee of Chemical Society Reviews of Royal Society of Chemistry (2014) and the Outstanding Youth of Natural Science Foundation of China for Academic Excellence (2007). He also serves as a deputy editor for Langmuir since 2017, external advisory board member, managing editor or editorial board member for international journals including Accounts of Chemical Research, Chemistry of Materials, Chemical science, Material Horizons and Nano Research.
