Lecture:Well-posedness for Incompressible NS and MHD Equations with Variable Viscosity

Lecture|Jun 13, 2017/15:00|Room 224 NanHai Building
Speaker: Pro. LI Yong-sheng, South China University of Technology

ABOUT LI YONG-SHENG
Prof. Li You-sheng finished his bachelor degree and master degree in Mathematics Department of East China Normal University. He received his master's degree in 1988 and doctorate degree from Department of Mathematics of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1995. From 1995 to 1998, he was a post doctorate at post-doctoral mobile station in Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics. Now he is a teacher in School of mathematics science of South China University of Technology teaching. He is 2nd class full professor and doctoral tutor in Mathematics Department. Prof. Li has been engaged in the teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates for a long time. He has been engaged in studying and teaching nonlinear differential equation theory for undergraduates and postgraduates. The main research interest is nonlinear evolution equations, infinite dimensional dynamical systems theory and its application. He presided over five National Natural Science Fund Projects, one Provincial Natural Science Fund Project, and one outstanding provincial doctoral thesis project funded by the author. He published more than 70 papers in important academic journal and essay collections at home and abroad

ABSTRACT
In this talk, we consider the initial-boundary value problem of the incompressible MHD equations with variable viscosity and conductivity in a smooth bounded domain. We establish the global well-posedness of strong solutions in both non-vacuum and vacuum cases when the initial velocity field and magnetic field are suitably small in some sense with arbitrarily large initial density. In addition, we also get some results of the large-time behavior in both two cases. Our results generalize some previous results in some sense.
