Title: The Ricci Flow and Its Geometric Applications

Introduction: The Ricci flow is a useful tool to understand the geometry and topology of manifolds. In this talk, I will give a survey to the theory and report some recent applications to the classification of four-dimensional manifolds with positive curvature.

ABOUT ZHU XI-PING
He is the vice president of Zhongshan University and professor of Mathematics. He was the winner of   National Outstanding Youth Science Fund Project in 1998 and the distinguished professor of the Changjiang Scholars Program appointed by Ministry of Education from 2001 to 2006. He was a member of the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation in 2002 and 2013 respectively. In 2004 and 2016, he won the Morningside Mathematical Silver Award and Chern Shing-shen Award by the ICCM (World Chinese Mathematician Conference); He was the first completed person for the first prize of the Natural Science Award by Ministry of Education in 2013; the academic leader of National Natural Science Foundation Innovation Research Group project in 2015; the first completed person for the second prize of National Natural Science Project Ricci flow theory and its application in geometry .
