In July 2013, the Institute of Biomedical Transformation at Jinan University was established based on the Guangdong Province Key Laboratory of Molecular Immunology and Antibody Engineering.

The Institute is intended to build a bridge between biology, basic medical research and clinical medicine; find basic research subjects and research directions for clinical problems; make efforts to address knowledge transfer, and improve the level of clinical diagnosis and treatment. It has state-of-the-art facilities, including laser scanning microscopy and conventional microscopy, a fluorescence quantitative PCR instrument, a liquid phase chip system, a multifunctional gel imaging system, a protein structure analysis system, a super-high-speed centrifuge and an ultra-low temperature freezer.

The Institute has built three centers:

The International Immunology Center（Honorary chair, Yale Professor Richard A. Flavell from the American Academy of Sciences; chair, Professor Yin Zhinan）

The Cancer Center（Honorary chair, UCSD Professor Michael Karin from the American Academy of Sciences）

The Antibody Engineering Center （Honorary chair, UCSF Professor James D. Marks; Chair: Professor Xiang Junjian）
