JNU has been striving to build a multicultural carrier, a high-quality platform for cultural dissemination and an incubator for the spread of Chinese culture at home and abroad in the past three years. said JNU Party Secrtary Lin Rupeng. Relying on topics like overseas Chinese, Chinese business economics, Chinese media and Chinese education, a variety of Chinese cultural communication centers and platforms have come into being.
In addition, JNU has established an experience center for the transmission and inheritance of Chinese culture, setting up five Chinese cultural exhibition halls on each campus. JNU has also laid out the first overseas campus—JNU's School of Japanese, which can meet demand from Chinese and overseas Chinese in Japan and local international students' demand for high-quality educational resources in China.
The university has also upgraded and overhauled 650 special courses for students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and has written and published nearly 200 sets of high-quality teaching materials for students from Hong Kong and Macao. It is continuously exploring new paths of general education for elementary school students and strengthening the national education of Chinese culture in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
Lin said that JNU had also deeply promoted normalization, standardization and scientific approach in Chinese language education. The project to develop standards for Chinese language teacher certificate levels has set up 198 test sites in 25 countries around the world; 11,348 people have taken the test, and 7,258 have received the certificate. The Chinese Language Proficiency Test Program for Overseas Chinese Youth has set up 55 test sites overseas, spreading over five continents and 22 countries.
In the last three years, JNU has held more than 300 sessions and over 1,000 credit hours of Chinese culture lectures, attracting Chinese from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and international students attend.
