The international higher education information agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published the 2018 Asian University rankings on October 16th; JNU ranks 184 and rises by 11 comparing last year. In the Comprehensive University Rankings of China Mainland, JNU ranks 44 and rises by 4 comparing last year.
The QS Asian University Rankings are evaluated from the following ten factors: academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), Faculty student ratio (15%), citation of articles (10%), Citations per faculty (10%), the number of doctorate teacher (5%), International teacher ratio (2.5%), proportion of international students (2.5%), proportion of inbound exchange Students (2.5%), proportion of outbound exchange students (2.5%).
JNU has scored high on the factor of "International students", with the grades of 99.9 ranking 12th among Asian universities this year. Meanwhile, compared to last year, the ranking of another factor “Citations” goes forward about 100 places. However, there are differences between JNU and top universities on the three heaviest weighting factors, including "Academic reputation", "Employer reputation", and "student-faculty ratio", which enlighten the direction for JNU to construct the "Double Top" university.
QS Asian University Rankings is designed for the ranking of universities in Asia, first released in 2009 and updated yearly. QS Asian University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and Academic Ranking of World Universities are viewed as the three most influential university rankings in the world.
