Jinan University started its spring semester on March 2, with 855 teachers offering 682 online courses to 51,320 students. Teachers carried out online teaching smoothly through the comprehensive use of MOOC, SPOC, QQ, WeChat, Rain Classroom, Tencent Meeting and other teaching platforms and tools. In this special period of epidemic control, teachers and students around the world logged in to cloud teaching platforms to respond to the call of taking online courses without going back to school, studying must not stop.

JNU President Song Xianzhong and Vice Presidents Zhang Ronghua and Zhang Hong went to the Network and Education Technology Centre on the morning of March 2 to see how the new semester online classes and network teaching platform worked.
After entering Rain Classroom in real time as students, they randomly listened to live voice broadcasts of courses in English Grammar II for undergraduates and International Investment for postgraduates. They also checked the teaching situation and the real-time data of Rain Classroom, the Online Course Center, Blackboard Learn, MOOC-SPOC and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area MOOC to affirm the effectiveness of online teaching.

A student majoring in Chinese language and literature said, When I heard that we would take online courses this semester, I felt quite curious and excited. However, some students also expressed concern that they might be absent-minded when listening to their teachers on screen. For our students, the main challenge is to discipline ourselves, another student said. But after seeing that their teachers tried a variety of ways to make online classes more interesting, they expressed their sincere thanks to their teachers.

As JNU has many students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and abroad, its Network and Education Technology Centre has set up a task force to test whether those students can access those teaching platforms successfully. Having now evaluated the platforms connected to those regions and countries including Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and India, they concluded that the teaching platforms are in good condition
