Shanghai (post-anti-Japanese War1946-1949)
With the Chinese people's victory in the Anti-Japanese War in August, 1945 and Jinan University moved back to Shanghai in June, 1946. It resumed working on Tiyuhui Road (E) and Baoshan Road, as a result of Zhenru school building's destroying. At that time, there were four colleges, including the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Science and Engineering, the College of Business, and the recovered Law School, seventeen faculties, including two new ones: Journalism Faculty and Faculty of Anthropology, and one study group in Jinan University. A batch of famous scholars were invited to teach there, including Qian Zhongshu, Liu Dajie, Hu Yuzhi, Sun Guiding, Chen Kui, Cao Weifeng , Zhou Xuliang, Tao Qixiang, Chen Wenbin, Ji Chaoding and so on.
After returning to Shanghai, the students of Jinan University dedicated themselves to the patriotic democratic fights. An outrage that the American army raped a Chinese undergraduate took place in Beiping (Beijing) on the night of December, 1946, which led to large-scale fights against American army's violence in Beiping, Shanghai and so on. In that situation, Jinan University established ˇ°Jinan Anti-violence of American Army Committeeˇ±, then took part in ˇ°Shanghai Anti-violence of American Army Committeeˇ± and was selected to be the member of its presidium. Later in 1947, the fight for national independence and people's freedom got victory step by step. And then ˇ°the anti-civil war, anti-hunger and anti-persecution fightˇ± broke out in May that year. The students of Jinan University, which were the presidium members of Students' Union in Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Suzhou, were the main force in that fight and led the ˇ°May, 20thˇ± fight. They also conducted fights to protect Jinan University on the eve of Shanghai's liberation. Therefore, Jinan University got the title of ˇ°South-east Democratic Castleˇ±.
Shanghai got liberation on May 27th, 1949. Then Jinan University established Campus Affairs Committee on August, 3rd and was merged into Fudan University, Jiao Tong University, etc. in the same year. At the same time, many students of Jinan University joined in the Chinese People's Liberation Army and advancing towards the South-west with Liu and Deng's army.

Jinan University Student Association of Anti-U.S-Army
-Violence was set up on Dec. 30 th , 1946, which later participated in Shanghai Student Association of Anti-U.S-Army

Shanghai students held a demonstration of Anti-Civil War, Anti-Famine, Anti-Oppression on May 19 th , 1947. Students of Jinan University fought with Kuomingtang Army at Shuzhou Bridge, which enabled other students marched on. |

Kuomingtang government sent army in May 20 th , 1947 to suppress the students who participated in the demonstration of Anti-Civil War, Anti-Famine, Anti-Oppression. And this evoked a further strike by more than 40 schools and universities in Shanghai by suspending school.
