Library
The library now has a total collection of 2.80 million volumes of books (including those collected in reference rooms of all colleges and departments) and an annual new collection of over 30,000. Of the total collection, over 700,000 are in Chinese, 200,000 are in foreign languages, over 400,000 are periodicals and more than 130,000 thread-bound books. The library has a floor space of 13500 m2 and total 1500 seats.
The library has special collection in three fiends: Hong Kong and Taiwan edition books, near 30,000 volumes; thread-bound books, over 130,000 volumes including 3923 books of Mr. Zhang Taiyan, one of the late famous scholars in China; and overseas Chinese information resource. In September 1997, JNU Library and Hong Kong University Library co-established Overseas Chinese Document and Information Center. Now the Center has already developed 5 databases and 2 CD-ROMs, namely overseas Chinese Resources (1946-1997) and the Cultural Phenomenon of the Hakkas.
The Library gives special importance to the collection of information resource relating to key research fields of the university and has developed an abundant collection in industrial economy and business management, study of arts, Chinese language and Chinese characters, foreign relations of China and overseas Chinese, reproduction science and family planning, biological technology and biomedical engineering, computer information and communication technology, etc. The Library also attaches great importance to the construction of e-resources and has purchased a dozen of CD-ROM databases and on-line databases in the past few years. Now there are over 30 electric reading rooms in the library.
The library will spare no efforts in providing the readers with pleasant and comfort places to work, and convenient evening and weekend opening hours.
University Press
The University Press was established in 1989. During over 10 years of development, it has not only published many textbooks and academic works, but also formed its special characteristics of its publication of books relating to overseas Chinese studies.
In the past several years, its award winning publications include:
Principles of Accounting, listed into one of the Recommended Textbooks by the Education Ministry in 1998.
A Survey of Dialects in the 10 Counties and Cities in the North of Guangdong Province by Prof. Zhan Bohui, famous linguistic expert, Excellent Academic Works Award by National Education Commission
Industrial Economy Structure and Organization by Prof. Deng Weigen, Social Science Excellent Research Award by Guangdong Provincial Higher Education Department.
Other award winning publications include: Flood, Draught and Wind Hazard of Guangdong Province, The Morality Prospectus of Chinese People (Antony Fisher International Memerial Award, April 1999), Quality Education Series (the 9th Bing Xin Children's Book Award).
The university press is also dedicated itself in the promotion of China's overseas Chinese affairs policy and the introduction of the overall conditions of overseas Chinese. Major publish in this field include: An Overall Survey of Overseas Chinese, Overseas Chinese Policy in Different Countries After the World War II, Overseas Chinese Studies, etc. The press also published many books in the study of society and economy of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The book Chinese compiled by the press for overseas Chinese in North America, Australia and Asia are warmly welcome by overseas Chinese schools abroad.
Now the university is cooperating with the press of Tsinghua University in the compilation of Academicians Series.

Internet Center
The Internet Center of Jinan University, founded in July 1994, is responsible for the research, design, construction and management of campus network and the research and development of applied software under the environment of large-scale network and advanced database management system.
It is also becoming a base for graduate students training in the field of computer network technology. The Center is accredited by Informix as a Regional Training Center of South China.
Experiment Technology Center
The Center was established in May 1999 with a view to becoming a comprehensive experiment base for teaching and scientific research of the whole university.
