The History of Jinan University Alumni Association
Jinan University Alumni Association was founded on December 25 th , 1992. during the course of 85 th anniversary celebration of the university in June 1991, representatives of our regional alumni organizations all over the world discussed the establishment an umbrella organization for alumni managing the general affairs and providing guidelines for all regional organizations. A common view was achieved on the meeting. The alumni organizations, including those in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzhen, Zhuhai etc, were commissioned to make preparation for the founding of the Association. On 20 th to 22 nd December, 1992, more than 100 representatives from the 33 regional alumni organizations of our university gathered in Macao to attend the preparatory meeting of Jinan Alumni Association. The regulations of Jinan Alumni Association and were discussed and adopted and the badge of the Association was decided on the meeting. Also, the leaders and leading body of the Association were elected, with Mr. Ma Iao Hang elected as the director of the Association in unanimous vote. The First administrative committee, the leading body of the association consisted of 33 members. Mr. Huang Yuhui was elected the director-general of the administrative committee and Mr. Zhong Yekun the secretary general.
In November 16 th , 2001, the Second Administrative Committee was established. Mr. Ma Iao Hang was relected as the director of Jinan Alumni Association, Ma Hu Jun the director-general of administrative committee, Mr. Cui Renhui the secretary-general. Also, a standing adminstrative committee was set up for the Second Administrative Committee to take care of the management of the Association when the representative assembly was not in session. In January 2004, Mr. Hu Jun was elected as the deputy director of the Second Administrative Committee, Mr. Jia Yimin the director-general.
In December 1993, Jinan Alumni, a quarterly of Jinan Alumni Assoication started publication. Also, Jinan Alumni Affairs Office, which is also an operating office of Jinan Alumni Association was set up to improve work efficiency and performance in the alumni affairs.
On the eve of the 90 th anniversary of our university in 1996, the Alumni Association proposed to raise a fund for constructing an alumni building, and received ethusiastic response from alumni all over the world. With their effort, 5 millions yuan was collected for the project. The building was completed at the end of 1999. now Jinan Alumni Association is also headquatered here. Also, there is a Jinan History Exhibition hall in the building.
Now the university has 57 regional alumni associations all over the world.
