Now there are 20 colleges and schools in the university: College of Liberal Arts, College of Journalism & Communication, College of Foreign Studies, College of Chinese Language & Culture, College of Economics, Management School, Law School, Shenzhen Tourism School, College of Intellectual Property Rights, College of Arts, Colelge of Science and Engineering, College of Information Science & Technology, Medical School, College of Pharmacy, International School, Zhuhai College, College of Adult Education, the 1st Clinical Medical School, and the 2nd Clinical Medical School. There are altogether 49 departments 80 research insititutes. offers 67 undergraduate major fields, 133 master degree programs, 58 Ph.D degree granting programs, 45 Ph.D programs and 6 post-doctorial research stations. The university also has 2 national key disciplines and 1 national engineering center. The university is also a key research base of national humanity and social sciences, a base for national university cultural quality education, a teaching and research base for Chinese language and literature of the Education Ministry and an educational base for overseas Chinese education of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. The University has 8 affiliated hospitals with altogether 4303 sick beds, 6 of the hospitals are National Grade A Class III hospitals.
The campuses of the university cover a total ladn of 1.74 square kilometers. There are now altogether 1,484 staff at the university, including 5 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and 2 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Of all the staff, there are 127 Ph.D candidate's supervisors, 289 professors and 512 associate professiors, in which 33.83% hold Ph.C degree and 45.76% hold master degree. There are altogether 30,499 students, in which 23,752 are full time students, including 6,074 graduate students and 16,336 undergraduate students. Of all the students, 10,699 are from 71 countries and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan. The unveristy library has a total collection of approximately 2.8 million volumes of books. The periodicals of the university include Jinan University Journal, Jinan Journal, China Pathphysiology, Ecology Journal, Southeast Asia Studies, Economic Frontier and Journal of the College of Chinese Language and Culture, Jinan University .
In recent years, Jinan University has always been ranked around the 50 th among all Chinese higher institutes in terms of overall capacity.
